"I sample my dog more often than I care to admit" #musicmoney chats to Other Colours + Britizen Kane

Updated: Feb 13, 2021

Where are you from?

I was born in Shropshire and made my way to London via Devon and Italy, so all over really!

Describe your sound:

My sound isn't exactly genre specific. I like exciting writing and quality production. Often it's quite fun to get in a room with someone and build something from scratch together, something that neither of you would have made without the other; something fresh.

Tell us about your latest track:

'About Time' is a cheeky number, it's like if Timbaland did grime. The hook is an interesting one, I went through a bunch, but this one was an ear-worm, that's why I chose it for my second release. The track is made by Britizen Kanes lyrics, he absolutely smashed it out the park and really brought his wit to it, the references are so so good. There's a lyric video I made for this track that illustrates all of the double entendres and the references, check it out it really just shows how much there is in those verses.

Who inspires you?

Super cheesy answer, my collaborators! I love a lot of different music, and that sort of melting pot of inspiration (i hope) comes through in the tracks. So thats anything from classic Earth Wind Fire through to James Blake.

Where do you see your career in 5 years?

I've stopped trying to guess! But if I'm still allowed to make music and collaborate with people like Kane I'll be winning!

Where can we check out your sounds?

Anywhere you get your music! Britizen Kane has a new one coming on the 31st of July with Turkish Dcypha who actually mix masters/collaborates on all my stuff too. So definitely keep an eye out for that one!

Tell us something about yourself that people need to know:

I sample my dog more often than I care to admit.
