Where are you from?
I am from a small town near Dundee, Scotland. It's really great here. Dundee is fast becoming the central creative hub in Scotland and many great artists and musicians have emerged from here.
Describe your sound:
My sound is a fusion of ambient and garage. I suppose the correct term is "Future Garage", but I don't like to put a definitive label on my style because I like to experiment and bring my own style into the mix. I have also been greatly influenced by lo-fi hip hop and electronica. I like to bring abstract elements into my work. I love experimenting with textures and I think that a signature to my sound; clean, ethereal melodies with some dark, gritty soundscapes thrown in to create a sense of contrast.
Tell us about your latest track:
My latest release is called "Strangers". It's about 2 people who fall in love then slowly drift apart. With this song, I wanted to create a track that is mostly vocal driven. Most of my work has vocals that are very abstract, but this one has traditional vocals that are reminiscent of a pop song! But of course, I added my own spin on it, with deep bass, dark pads and unconventional percussion.
I'm really happy with it and it was a joy to create something a bit different.
Who inspires you?
I take inspiration from artists of all genres. There is something special and unique about every artist on this planet. I would say my main inspirations regarding my own productions are Burial and deamau5. Those guys are insanely talented at what they do and I feel that their work has inspired me a lot over the years.
Where do you see your career in 5 years?
I plan to be doing the exact same thing that I'm doing now! I'm going to continue to put out music that connects with people and makes them feel something. The only difference is, in 5 years I hope to have honed my music production skills even further. I simply do this for the pleasure that it brings me and I feel extremely grateful that I have such a loyal fanbase. The fact that people listen to my music, then tell me how much it means to them is an amazing feeling.
